I have seen first-hand what happens when someone does not have access to health care that they need. I have also seen first-hand how quality health care can change someone from having a life of dependency to one whose contributions to the common good are never-ending. We might never know how our communities might be improved by the person who obtains the glasses they need so badly to see clearly, or the person whose tooth pain has finally been alleviated, or the person who gets the treatment they need for diabetes, high blood pressure, or an STD. But, we know that access to quality healthcare changes lives for the better. That is why I volunteer.
